With 2011 over and done with and 2012 now in it's infancy, it thought it would be a good idea to take a look at some of the films to look forward to over the next 12 months and the ones that I personally look forward to. So click read more and find out what we will be presented with in 2012...
So 2011 was a good year for films, especially sci-fi with the likes of Attack The Block, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and Super 8, it was a lousy year for Horror but at least we were treated to Stake Land. So is 2012 going to promise us a year of unforgettable movies or are we going to suffer a sort of Dark Ages of Cinema?
Here's a look at the best of the year starting with January..
(*NB: These are U.S release months and may change)

JANUARY
THE GREY
Liam Neeson versus Wolves in this survival thriller from writer/director Joe Carnehan (Narc). A group of oil drillers find themselves stranded in the wild's of Alaska in a man vs nature battle for survival against a pack of wolves. From what i've heard this is an outstanding film and with Carnehan behind the camera good things can only come. Also stars Dermot Mulroney and Frank Grillo.
UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING
Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene in the fourth film of the vampire franchise, will this be any good? that's a good question, the first was entertaining, so was the second but i have yet to watch the third film. Well for a sort of Twilight anti-dote maybe this aint so bad.
HAYWIRE
With what seems like the 900th film Steven Soderberg has released within the last 6 months or so, Haywire doesn't come across as, at least from the trailer, as your typical Soderberg film. It's an action film in vein of the Bourne series an stars everyone from Michaels Douglas and Fessbender, Ewen McGregor, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and UFC fighter Gina Carano, fingers crossed this is gonna be good.
Also coming in January: The Devil Inside, Contraband, The Divide and Red Tails.
CHRONICLE
This film looks very interesting, it's a found footage Superhero movie. From the trailer the film seems to show that one of the three main character becomes a villain and although it is supposed to be a found footage film, i don't know if that takes up the whole film or just a portion of it, but it does look interesting.
GHOST RIDER: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE
Nic Cage returns to the role of Johnny Blaze, in this sequel to the 2004 film which was shit, and the word from Butt-Numb-A-Thon last december is that this is also shit, But the trailer made me excited because it was mental. It comes from the directors of Crank and Gamer, Nevildene and Taylor, so im quite expecting insanity. I hope it's better than the first.
LOCKOUT
A new film written and produced by Luc Besson which is pretty much Escape From NY but set on a space prison, It looks promising from the trailer with Guy Pearce on badass duty and Peter Stormare on psycho duty (which he does best). Here's hoping LockOut is the start of a good year for Sci-Fi.
Also Coming in February: Act OF Valour (aka COD the movie), Safe House, The Woman In Black, The Innkeepers and This Means War.
JOHN CARTER
Another month another Sci-fi film, this one is an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burrows novel and stars someone off of Friday Night Lights, to be honest, from the trailer it looks abit meh, sort Prince Of Persia meet Avatar, not really sure it's going to be any good. It's coming from Disney and they don't exactly have a great track record with sci-fi so my hopes aint being raised by this.
THE HUNGER GAMES
Now i have to say this actually looks pretty damn good, a sort of teen Battle Royale kind of film set in the near future. It's based on a series of books that i've never read but the trailer does look promising. It stars Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Banks.
WRATH OF THE TITANS
SNOOOOOOOOOOOOZE!
March is a bit of a let down this year.
BULLET TO THE HEAD
Fuck yeah Walter Hill returns to the big screen with Stallone in this hitman movie, Maybe Hill can bring us his visceral violence like he did back in the 70s and 80s and maybe Stallone can get back to his badass action movie past and give us a new Cobra. Pyched like a mother fucker for this. Also stars Jason Momoa and that asian dude out of the Fast and Furious films, but it's Walter Fucking Hill....
CABIN IN THE WOODS
Joss Wheadon and Drew Goddard bring us a new spin on the tired old 'cabin in the woods' horror story by adding Thor and fucking Sci-Fi, from the trailer this looks pretty fucking good.
SAFE
Jason Statham, Guns, Action and a chinese kid which he must protect, fuck it, i'd watch this any day of the week. The Trailer looks pretty awesome.
BATTLESHIP
When I saw the trailer, I was blown away buy what i was witnessing, WTF, battleships vs what looks like Transformers and that also stars Liam Neeson and Rhiana(?). It does look like a really stupid film but also incredibly fun.
MEN IN BLACK III
Ok the boys in black are back and this time we find them traveling through time, I really like the MIB films and im glad there's a threequel. It has a great cast the includes Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Emma Thompson and Josh Brolin looking creepily like TLJ.
THE AVENGERS
So it's finally upon us, after years of great to mediocre Marvel movies, The Avengers finally assemble under the direction of Joss Wheadon with Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Cap'n America, Sam Jackson as Nick Fury and Mark Ruffulo as Da Hulk. From the the trailer and the leaked footage this is shaping up rather nicely.
PROMETHEUS
Im hoping this is the film of the year for me, I love the Alien franchise and while this takes place in the same universe it's nothing to really do with that franchise but god dammit it's Sir Ridley Scott making Sci-fi again and this makes me think that somewhere there might be a god. With a cast that includes, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender.
G.I JOE: RETRIBUTION
Now i absolutely loved the first film, I grew up with the cartoons and the toys and was transported back to being an 8 year old kid again and this year it's probably going to happen again when Dwayn The Rock Johnson teams up with Bruce John McClane Willis to take on Cobra. Fuck yes am I excited for this.
